Buy a Google Nexus 7 in the UK – FAIL

Come on Google! You know I love you and you know I reside in the UK.
But your Nexus 7 adverting campaign on today is a big fat, frustrating fail for me…

Excitedly I clicked your link to pre-order 2 x Nexus 7 Tablets.. However at the shopping cart the image of the charger is of a USA 2-pin 110 Volt charger and not a UK 3 pin plug charger…

So I telephoned support and asked if I would receive a USA version or a UK version and the customer service agent I spoke to could not give me a definitive answer!! So I cancelled my order..

I want to buy 2 x Google Nexus 7 Tablets can you help me Google?

Surely Google you can afford to write a little bit of code that displays a UK chargeable deceive and accessories to UK customers ? or did you not think this through ?

If there was an image of a 240 volt UK 3-pin plug on the checkout page (screenshot below) I would not have hesitated and my “impulse purchase” would have been complete… But I’ve cancelled my order and will have lost interest by tomorrow..

Is it not possible, if it were so, that the charger has a US plug, to just use a converter plug? With most devices I have, I can just do that, to recharge when travelling.

    • Hi Linda

Possibly, but the USA charging and power is 110 volt so I’m not sure if it would work on a UK 240 volt even with a converter. Because there is doubt in my mind I gave up on the idea πŸ™‚

      Thanks – Micki

I can see why this has made you cancel your order, I mean seriously a misrepresented picture of an American plug, my oh my when will this be national news? Come on google sort it out, no one has ever bought anything when the picture doesn’t accurately show the item they have ordered, especially when its the plug. You better tell your UK distributors to check each and every box.

    • Hi Matthew

It’s frustrating, we’re seeing large companies make many mistakes in the news these days, I’m cancelling my plans to become a global conglomerate πŸ™‚

Have a great week – Mick

  3. I pre-ordered the 8Gb one. In the email receipt it says “You’ve made a purchase on Google Play. You will not be charged until your order has been shipped.” But minutes later it appears on my bank account that I’ve indeed been charged already. I can only hope I won’t get charged twice for the same order. I emailed them about it but no reply so far.

    • Hi Jason

Ouch – I hope you don’t end up paying twice… Another occasion of Google telling us one thing and then doing the opposite. I do love Google but they need to try harder..

Good luck buddy,, Lets hope you don’t have to ask for a refund… Mick

  4. The screen grab shows you’re linking both devices to you Google account. Why would you want that?

I’ve ordered one. I’ll be surprised if it comes with the wrong mains adaptor – but I’ll sure as hell let the web know if that’s not the case.

    • Hi Andrew

I want one for my self and one to give away in a competition… Let’s hope yours arrives with a 3 Pin plug πŸ™‚

Have a great week buddy – Mick

  5. I think Google just concentrated on Sky diving demo πŸ™‚ . This is epic #fail . Not to mention the headache we all are experiencing regarding Google events . totally messed up. So not cool from Google :-/

    • HiYa Meetu

I used to aspire to have a large business – Google are proving that small is beautiful πŸ™‚

Hope you and the striker are well – Have a great week πŸ™‚
