Everyone seems to ask this question when they start on-line with Twitter. Businesses usually ask – What is the best time to tweet? I can’t tweet all day and even if I could with the help of buffer and other scheduling systems, I need to know when is the best time to increase engagement.
You can of course, spread your tweets through-out the day but if you want a certain tweet noticed, this would mean repeating that tweet several times and some consider repeating tweets too many times not good twitter etiquette.
As a general guideline for the UK tweeting between 1pm and 7pm is quite effective because during these times you are catching many time-zones.
For instance, from 1pm GMT – its 8am in New York – and on the other end of the scale its still only 8.30pm in Perth and you might even catch some people that are still awake in Auckland! Nevertheless, this is a huge space of time and usually people want to know the actual hour and or day that is the best time to tweet.
So, how do I find the most effective time to tweet.
There are tools for that.
Tweriod - Tweroid gives you the best times to tweet, they analyse both your tweets and your followers tweets for the last 5000 tweets. So that you can start tweeting when it makes most sense to reach others.
SocialBro SocialBro have many features, and one of them is to find your best time to tweet, to know when your audience is online and to improve your strategy.
The infomation they give is as follows.
- When your followers are online?
- Online followers by hour
- Online followers by day of week
- Potential exposure by hour
- Potential exposure by day of week
- When you get more RTs and replies?
- Replies & RTs by hour
- Replies & RTs by day of week
- Reach by hour
- Reach by day of week
Crowdbooster - They also have a wide range of information – when you log in, it works its magic to tell you the best time to reach most people. I also like the Graph it gives you that is entitled “How are my tweets doing?” Which shows when you tweeted, what tweet it was and how many people that tweet reached.
Tweetwhen - Tweetwhen by Hubspot shows you what days and times you receive most retweets per tweet.
These are just a few of the tools available and probably the most effective for me. There are many more you might like to try, some are free and some you need to pay for, you might just need to find the best tool for you.
